Jan 28 Learn to Curl 8:30pm

Learn to curl with the Circle City Curling Club at the Fuel Tank At Fishers!

The clinic will include:

  • Brief orientation to curling including rules, equipment, game play and scoring
  • Discussion of on-ice safety
  • Learning about the aspects pf play on the ice with members of the club
  • Short game against other Learn to Curl participants to experience all aspects of the game

The total event will last around two hours.

THINGS TO KNOW:

Dress warmly but in layers - It is very common to get warm on the ice, particularly when sweeping, so a light jacket that can be removed is a good idea

Wear athletic shoes - Appropriate footwear (sneakers, tennis shoes) is required. You must wear shoes that you cannot easily slip out of and no boots, heels, flats, crocs etc will be allowed. We will provide a pair of "grippers" to be worn over your shoes

Head protection is strongly recommended - If you have a bike helmet, skateboard helmet, hockey helmet etc., please consider bringing it. Falls do sometimes occur, and it is possible to hit your head. Even some of our experienced league members wear head protection. We have a few "Ice Halo" padded headbands available for those who do not have their own helmets

MASKS ARE REQUIRED - The club is continuing to require masks covering the nose and mouth for all our events and we will be modifying some drills to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19

A liability waiver is required prior to participation in the event - The waiver will be sent by email to all participants, participants under the age of 18 must have a waiver competed by a parent or legal guardian.

AGE LIMIT - We do not have an age limit per-se, however we find that children under the age of 11 or 12 do not have the physical strength to be able to deliver a 40 pound curling rock down a 145 foot sheet of ice. In addition, we do require that all participants wear rubber safety grippers (which we provide) on the ice. The smallest size of these grippers fits about a womens size 6-6 1/2 (which equates approximately to a child's size 4-4 1/2. If a child cannot fit into the smallest pair of grippers, they will be unable to participate.
