Learn to Curl with Circle City Curling Club!
Curious about curling? Join us for a fun, hands-on introduction to the sport! Our experienced club members will teach you the basics and get you out on the ice.

What to Expect
During your approximately two-hour Learn to Curl experience, you will:
- Learn the basics of curling, including rules, equipment, game play, and scoring.
- Review important on-ice safety information.
- Practice the fundamentals of delivery and sweeping with experienced club members.
- Finish with a short game against other Learn to Curl participants so you can experience how everything comes together.
Important Registration Information
Age & footwear requirements:
We do not have a strict age limit; however, we generally find that children under age 11 or 12 may not yet have the physical strength needed to deliver a 40-pound curling stone down a full sheet of ice.
All participants must wear the rubber safety grippers we provide while on the ice. Our smallest gripper fits approximately a women's size 5½–6, or a children's size 3½–4. If a participant cannot safely fit into the smallest gripper, they will be unable to participate on the ice.
Registering with friends or family?
If members of your group are registering separately, you will have an opportunity on the registration form to provide the names of the people you would like to curl with.
Team assignments:
Participants will be placed into teams of four, or occasionally three, depending on attendance. We will do our best to keep groups together, but this may not always be possible.
Know Before You Go
The arena is cool, but sweeping can warm you up quickly. Comfortable layers and a light jacket that can be removed are recommended.
You must bring a clean pair of rubber-soled shoes to change into before going onto the ice. Shoes should fit securely and should not be boots, heels, flats, Crocs, open-toed shoes, or other footwear that could be unsafe on the ice. We will provide rubber grippers to wear over your shoes.
Falls can happen. We encourage participants to bring a bike, skateboard, or hockey helmet. Participants without a helmet will be provided with an "Ice Halo" padded headband. Head protection must remain on while you are on the ice.
All participants must complete a liability waiver before participating. Waiver information will be sent by email. For participants under age 18, the waiver must be completed by a parent or legal guardian.
