Choose Your Curling Experience

Curling Icebreaker (1 hour)

A fun, low-commitment introduction to curling. Perfect if you’re just curious or looking for a unique activity with friends.

What to expect:

  • Step onto the ice and try delivering a curling stone
  • Take a few practice shots with guidance from club members
  • Learn the basics in a relaxed, casual environment

Great for first-timers who want to test the ice before committing to a longer session.

Learn to Curl Clinic (2 Hours)

Our most popular beginner experience! This hands-on clinic gives you a fuller introduction to the sport and lets you experience real game play.

Includes:

  • Brief orientation to curling rules, equipment, gameplay, and scoring
  • On-ice demonstration and instruction on delivering stones, sweeping, and basic strategy
  • A short game with other participants

4-Week Learn to Curl League

Ready to dig in? This is the best path from trying curling to becoming a regular club curler. Designed for beginners who want to build their skills and confidence over time.

What’s included:

  • Four 2-hour sessions
  • Each week focuses on a different aspect of the game
  • Consistent instruction and guided play
  • A CCCC membership for the current season, making it easy to keep curling

This option is ideal if you’re considering league play or long-term involvement with the club.

Your Path to Curling

Not sure where to start or what comes next? There’s no single right way to get into curling. Whether you start with a one-hour introduction or jump right into our Learn to Curl League, we’ll help you build the skills and confidence to become part of the club.

Try Curling: Curling Icebreaker or Learn to Curl Clinic

Get on the ice, learn the basics, and see what curling is all about. Choose a one-hour Icebreaker for a quick introduction or a two-hour Learn to Curl Clinic for more instruction and game play.

Try it and love it? Your next step is our 4-Week Learn to Curl League, where you'll build on what you learned and get ready for regular league play.

Already know you're ready for more? You can skip this step and start with the 4-Week Learn to Curl League, no previous curling experience is required.

Build Your Skills: 4-Week Learn to Curl League

This is where you'll really start to become a curler. Spend four weeks developing your delivery, sweeping, strategy, and game play with experienced instructors while getting plenty of time on the ice.

Even better, your registration includes a Circle City Curling Club membership for the current season. Once you've completed the Learn to Curl League, you'll have the skills, confidence, and membership you need to join our regular club leagues and keep playing.

Keep Curling: Join Regular League Play

Welcome to the club! Now that you've learned the game and become a member, the best part is getting out on the ice and curling with us.

Our leagues are social, welcoming, and a great way to meet other members while continuing to improve your game. Don't worry about being the newest curler on the ice, you'll find plenty of people happy to help you along the way.

Not sure which league to choose? Our Over/Under League is a great place to start, pairing two newer curlers with two more experienced curlers so you can learn and build confidence alongside seasoned club members. Our 5U League, for curlers with five or fewer years of experience, is another great option for playing with others who are still developing their game.

You're not limited to beginner-friendly leagues, you are welcome to play in any of our club leagues. You don't need to bring a team, either. Register as an individual, and our league commissioner will place you on a team.

Additional FAQs & What to Expect:
Age Guidelines

We don't have a strict age requirement for our Learn to Curl programs. Most children are ready to participate around age 12, when they can comfortably deliver a 42-pound curling stone the full length of the ice and follow on-ice safety instructions. If you feel your child is physically able and ready to participate, youth are welcome to participate in any of our Learn to Curl experiences alongside family and friends.

Looking for something designed specifically for young curlers? Our Youth Curling Program offers ongoing instruction, practice, and game play in a fun, supportive environment with other youth.

Please note: All participants must wear rubber safety grippers on the ice. Our smallest gripper fits approximately a youth size 4 / women’s size 6 shoe. If a participant cannot safely wear grippers, they will be unable to participate on the ice

Accessibility & Inclusive Curling

We want curling to be welcoming and accessible to as many people as possible. If you’re unable or uncomfortable getting into the traditional lunge position used to deliver a stone, stick curling may be a great option. This adaptive method allows participants to deliver the stone from a standing position using a delivery stick.

Stick curling is available during all Learn to Curl offerings—simply let your instructor know you’d like to use a stick, and they’ll be happy to assist.

Liability Waiver

All participants must have a completed liability waiver on file before being allowed to participate on ice. You can find the 2025/2026 wavier here.

Equipment

No additional equipment needed! Circle City Curling Club provides everything required to participate, including:

  • Curling Stones
  • Brooms, sliders and stabilizers
  • Safety grippers
  • Head Protection

What to bring

To ensure a safe and comfotable experience, please bring:

  • A clean pair of rubber-soled shoes to change into
  • Warm but layered clothing that allows you to move comfortably
  • Bike, hockey or skateboard helmet. (If you do not bring a helmet, a padded "Ice Halo" headband will be provided)
